General Conditions
ACT2 agrees to provide courses, coaching, workshops and other activities to support students develop their skills and interest in the performing arts and communication. The terms proposed here are in line with the standard terms normally applied to paid extra curricular courses in most Swiss International Schools.
Responsibilities
The commitment made by parents signing up to a course is for the full year, i.e. September through to May unless the course is described as "Termly".
ACT2 reserves the right to cancel an activity in the case of insufficient registrations, conflicts with other activities, or logistic problems. In the case of course cancellation by ACT2 the balance of any unused fees paid by parents will be returned.
Students will be expected to work on their exam pieces between teaching sessions. Where the student repeatedly fails to make reasonable progress ACT2 reserves the right to withdraw the student from the examination to avoid the risk of failure.
For all private sessions parents or students will be expected to give reasonable warning of absences. If a student does not show up for a pre-arranged private session, and did not give adequate notification, a portion of the session may be charged to compensate the teacher for allocating his/her time.
All requests to postpose a session should normally be sent to the teacher at least 24 hours before the session is due to take place.
For online activities, parents will be responsible for ensuring that students have a suitable environment for presentation and performance work. The environment should be quiet, free of interruption and students will need adequate space in which to move around as required by their pieces. Please note that when examinations need to be conducted online, LAMDA does not accept the use of a bedroom as an examination venue.
Where mock or final examinations cannot be conducted in an appropriate space ACT2 reserves the right to withdraw the student from the examination to avoid the risk of failure.
Payments For Scheduled Courses
Payments of tuition fees will be made in two equal instalments.
50% at the start of the course and 50% half way through the course. The exact payment deadlines will be notified prior to the start of the course, or for late registrations, notification will be provided shortly after registration.
Please note that exam entry fees need to be paid as follows:
100% at least 6 weeks before the notified exam date.
Cancellation
No reduction in fees will normally be made by ACT2 in the case of cancellation or non-respect of the contract, or in the case of any absences, withdrawal or dismissal of the student, unless due to ill-health, relocation or participation in a mandatory school event. However students in year 12 and year 13 have the option to stop courses at the end of Semester 1 and in this case will not be charged for the second semester.
Withdrawal With Replacement
In the event that a student has to withdraw from their LAMDA course for reasons other than force majeure the registration will normally be cancelled only once another student is found and is available to take the vacated place. In such a case the fees will be recalculated in line with the number of weeks completed prior to the cancellation.
Missed Sessions
In the case of group course sessions missed by students for any reason, the tuition cannot normally be replaced and will not be refunded or credited.
In the case that private course students are absent due to a conflict between the scheduled lesson and the scheduling of a mandatory school curricular activity or other examination, the missed lesson will be replaced providing the student informs his/her LAMDA teacher in writing or by email at least 7 days in advance.
In the case of a teacher's absence, a replacement lesson will be proposed. However, once a replacement lesson time has been agreed to, the Terms and Conditions of the registration form are applied. Refusal of proposed replacement lessons will not result in reimbursement. Lessons missed due to a teacher’s absence or to an Excused Student Absence where replacement lessons were not able to be given at an earlier time will be delivered at an advertised additional *catch up* sessions which normally take place in the last week of term.
Payments For Flexible Courses
The schedule of payments for flexible courses is negotiated between ACT2 and the parents. For flexible courses there is the opportunity to reduce or increase the number of sessions depending on the progress of the student(s). It is also possible to vary the the time and frquency of sessions to suit the family or student workload though this will also depend on the availability of the teacher.
Registration
The ACT2 online registration form must be submitted and first installment paid before any student can be confirmed on a course and normally before any student may attend courses. ACT2 will do its best to honour requests for lessons, teachers, days and times listed on the registration form but places are limited and ACT2 cannot guarantee that all requests will be successful.
Group Teaching Schedule
All group courses will be delivered during the school term. However teaching does not take place in every week of the school term and will normally be delivered in accordance with the calendar of teaching weeks which will be posted on the website to view or download in the Resources section.
Code of Conduct
The ACT2 Code of Conduct represents a few core values and is based on the belief that we must all aim to support the development of responsible, respectful and caring citizens of the world.
All members of the ACT2 community are expected to treat each other with respect. Students are expected to follow all reasonable instructions given by adults regardless of their role. Similarly the teachers and other staff members will treat the students with respect. A student who does not conform to the Code of Conduct risks being asked to leave the program permanently.
Pandemic
ACT2 undertakes to conform to all the anti-pandemic measures prevailing at any host venue. In the event of full or partial closure of the venue due to a pandemic, such as Covid-19, ACT2 undertakes to continue delivery of its courses and will do so online as necessary. Any online teaching will continue until the venue is able to re-open or until LAMDA start to support examiner visits, or until the course and any relevant examinations have been completed.
In agreeing these terms parents accept that the course delivery may change in these ways and that such a changes will not normally entitle parents to cancel a registration or receive a refund.
